So, what did our guests think of the festival. Here are some comments from the speakers and entertainers who attended in 2013.
RTÉ’s Charlie Bird said “I most enjoyed the visit to Ardmore. The swim in the sea on Sunday morning with the tide full in was a joy and afterwards the walk along the cliff with the sun shining was so so lovely. You have a little bit of heaven there and keep it that way!”
Paul Williams, Crime Reporter emailed to say “I was honoured to be asked to attend the Pattern Festival and do a talk in St Paul’s church. I have never been to Ardmore before but what a first impression. Apart from the beauty of the place there was a wonderful, friendly atmosphere around the village. The festival had a programme that would be the envy of festival organisers across the country. And when one considers the fact that this is a tiny coastal hamlet it truly is a spectacular achievement and well done to all involved.”
Lucy Kennedy another well-know RTÉ presenter commented “It was my first time at the Ardmore Pattern Festival but the first of many. I had a ball. It really was a gorgeous day, so much to do and see. The sun was shining and Ardmore was alive with smiling happy people of all ages. It’s a fantastic family experience and small people are thoroughly entertained. I would really recommend it for families. Well done Committee! See you all next year!!!
Sinead Moriarty, best-selling author described her visit “As I drove through Ardmore village the sun shone and I was dazzled by this incredible part of Ireland. It was my first time and it certainly won’t be my last. I talked about writing and books in the beautiful setting of St Paul’s Church. It was like something from a film set. It was wonderful to meet all the hard working and charming women and men on the festival committee. ”
As the committee turns to planning a new programme of events and activities for 2014 there will be a short break from meetings between now and Christmas but ideas will be passed via email and there will be seven sets of peeled eyes searching for the next WOW factor event to bring to Ardmore.
Ardmore Pattern Festival would like once again to thank the whole community of volunteers, helpers and visitors for making this year special, all festival sponsors who year in and year out provide us with much needed funds, to Waterford Leader Partnership who have been invaluable to the survival of this festival with its grant support not only this year but for a number of years.
